Christmas in Dubai

santa_clausChristmas is celebrated with a great enthusiasm in Dubai. The entire emirate spreads the joy by starting the revels from the 24th December, on the eve of Christmas, and the day is celebrated by importing Christmas trees, pouring artificial snow and hosting special events at different places of the city. People visit their relatives and friends in the morning and are generally served with sugared almonds, coffee and liqueurs. Kubbeh, made of crushed boiled wheat mixed with meat, accompanied with chicken, rice, onion, salt and pepper, is usually served for lunch.

Exquisite parties are organized for the guests and different mouthwatering delicacies accompanied with Christmas carols is on the list of almost every hotel of the city. Most of the hotels also offer special Christmas lunch for the foodie lovers.

Tempting festive discounts wait for you as you enter the malls for doing some Christmas shopping. Almost every mall and shopping centre is enjoying Christmas by displaying some of the finest collections of the season. Wafi Mall is surely not to be missed when in Dubai during the festive season. The celebration is marked by a Santa’s grotto, Christmas songs and different discounts.

Everyone is invited to attend the mass prayers on the eve of Christmas at St. Frances of Assisi Church situated at Jebel Ali. The church also gives lunch to the poor during the festival. Several other churches in Dubai perform morning and evening prayers.
