Women Expats in Dubai

Women ExpatsDubai does not follow hard and fast religion norms compared to other Middle East countries. It is a welcoming emirate for women who want to explore professional avenues with full freedom.

Even if women are not expected to remain covered, tip to toe or wear an Abaya, certain practices are followed in dressing styles that does not overtly expose your body in public.

There are many recreational options available for women like shopping at some of the world’s largest malls or joining a sports or hobby club. During the weekends, you could laze out at the Jumeirah beach or have a night out at any of the nightclubs or pubs. Just remember that alcohol is prohibited in public places and drunken driving means you risk bags of money as fines.

Workplaces are secure for women as sexual harassment could lead to severe repercussions for men. Women do have the choice to choose the type of industry they want to work in and some of them have women occupying especially high positions.

Remaining in par with international standards, even Dubai observes a five day working week, with a compulsory holiday on Friday. The other non-working day could be a Thursday or Saturday where international companies prefer Saturday to remain in conjunction with their offices abroad.

Respecting the law and religion in any country is a basic pre-requisite and not an exception in Dubai.

I want to do to Dubai. Im sick off the snow here.

  9. mia says:

Well….To tell you the truth. I’m also sick of the snow. I’m from Canada. At first when I first first came here about two years ago, I liked it and made a few friends my age and enjoyed the lifestyle. I don’t care much for the shopping or the huge construction buildings or the rich lifestyle. I’m just here on holiday. Yes…Dubai may be a nice country to visit but. it’s kind of fake with buildings. Plus, I would feel uncomfortable to go out to bars and stuff alone. Constant glareness of construction indian workers and emirati men and lots of laughter because I’m a woman. All these men are working. I’m not. I know that a few montrealers told me “Some of the arabs there are friendly.” I don’t think that’s true. I’ve seen them in the malls and whatever. It’s a bit much. Few of them look at me thinking that I have a good time here with my parents. It’s not true. Not everyday here is perfect for me. I would prefer to just stay in canada and have my life there. These emirates should be lucky to have a good lifestyle with their so called husbands and relaxing with a warm climate despite wearing the black veil all day.

Wow yet…you want to come to dubai. Good luck. You’ll find it a strange place. But whatever..

Also….there are too many british people here. It’s as if they own the country dubai. This country shouldn’t be called dubai. Should be called “BritDubai”
